Air-Pots have unusual profiled walls, a kind of egg presser configuration , consisting of cones closed inside and cones open outside . In traditional pots , the flat walls inside the container repel the roots and set in motion a spiraling process in which the roots elongate without increasing the root mass. The inner cones direct roots outward to the open cones, where, because the air density in the soil is too high, the roots dehydrate and stop elongating.In response, the plant sends a message causing the roots to grow laterally to compensate for the loss, leading to a thickening of the root system with the effect of increasing the root mass in a potentiating manner.The porosity of the Air-Pot also creates better conditions for bacterial activity, thereby increasing the amount of nutrients for the plant. The root system is also very effective in taking up all available nutrients and water.
